Writing Workshop: Engaging Children as Writers
Write to Read is a research initiative designed to support schools to improve children’s motivation and engagement in literacy and to raise literacy levels. It is particularly focused on supporting schools in the DEIS context. This series of webinars will focus on the teaching and assessment of writing in First to Sixth classes through a writing workshop approach. It will be of particular interest and relevance to teachers who are keen to develop children as writers across a range of genres while also balancing attention to essential skills in writing.
Engage with expert facilitators each of whom are teachers with significant experience teaching in the DEIS context and who are currently implementing a writing workshop approach in their own classrooms and supporting Write to Read partner schools in doing so. Experience examples of approaches to teaching and assessment of writing and consider implications for your school and classroom context.
