Manual Handling in schools (InAnimate Handling) - Course Details

Course intro:

We have designed this Manual Handling in education training course  to provide teaching and support staff all the skills to interact with hazards and risks around manual handling in education. The hazards and risks associate to lifting , putting down, pushing, pulling, carrying and moving can cause harm to staff.  This course  follows Health and Safety Authority best practice and is tailored for staff such as cleaning, kitchen, maintenance, teaching, SNA`s, caretakers and other support staff within the school or education setting

The course is very reflective on the school and education environment and follows all requirements from the HSA

Course content

• Introduction & Course Objectives

• Legislation – Legal Implications (Part 2, Chapter 4, Regulation 58/59)

• Employer Duties (Section 8)

• Employee Duties (Section 13)

• 8 principles of Safe Lifting

• Assessing every load initially

• Hazard identification within schools and education

• Risk Assessment (T.I.L.E.O)

• Engagement with bins, bags, box`s, trollies, carts, room set up etc

• Anatomy and body movement

• Fitness and Flexibility

• Learning Outcome review

 Practical and Theory assessment

Who is the course intended for:

All staff who engage in the in animate handling within the school

Face to Face Workshop held at Drumcondra Education Support Centre
