Chess for Fun
Ever wondered how to play chess?
Ever wanted to know how to introduce chess into your classroom/ school?
Like to make chess easy and fun for everyone?
This course is for you!
Over the course of three 1hour sessions, we’ll introduce you in a very gentle way to how the pieces move, how to play different mini-games that you can teach your class (Junior Infants up to Leaving Cert!), and how to organise your class chess lessons.
We’ll suggest great ways that chess can be used to enhance your teaching at all levels.
Suitable for complete beginners or those who haven’t taught chess in the classroom before.
Also suitable for teachers, both primary and secondary, who know the basics but would like to know how best to teach the game.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
· Play a game of real chess
· Teach the basics of chess to your class
· Organise easy, fun chess activities in your classroom that will conform to Covid-19 guidelines.
· Use chess to teach SPHE, maths and other curricular areas.
