Whole School Anti-Bullying and Online Safety Programme
Dear Principal,
The National Anti-Bullying Research and Resource Centre are now recruiting schools for the Whole School Anti-Bullying and Online Safety programme for the first event on Monday, 21st of January from 9:30am-4pm. Lunch will be provided for participants.
The programme utilizes a train-the-trainer approach to tackle bullying, cyber-bullying and online safety. The aim of the programme is to enhance the capacity of school communities to work towards tackling bullying and increasing online safety among adolescents. This is a research based programme allowing schools to monitor their own school and identify areas of improvement, allowing for self-evaluation.
The programme requires TWO teachers from each school to attend the training in DCU St. Patricks Campus for a full day before returning to their school to deliver lesson plans to their students detailing further into the issues of bullying, cyber-bullying and online safety.
On completion teachers will be able to;
1. Define and identify bullying, cyber-bullying and online safety.
2. Engage empathically with children and young people.
3. Investigate and resolve reported incidents.
4. Teach children and adolescents how to nurture respectful relationships online and offline.
5. Foster and develop children and adolescents communication skills online and offline.
6. Support colleagues in strengthening their abilities to educate young people about bullying, cyber-bullying, and online safety.
The Whole School Anti-Bullying and Online Safety Programme is supported by Facebook/Instagram, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and the Association of Teachers’/ Education Centres in Ireland.
